An Update on Apple
So I didn’t really explain much (or any) of my last post. Here’s the skinny: I have been given a verbal offer from Apple for a co-op position within their Systems Test Engineering group. Here’s a line from the job posting:
The team is responsible for system quality and integration of Apple’s hardware products with a particular focus on compatibility with 3rd party hardware and software.
As best as I can understand it, I’m going to get access to pre-release hardware and/or software from Apple and it’s going to be my job to work with the team to test it out, run it through its paces and hopefully find lots of bugs before they make their way to release
It sounds like a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to it. Unfortunately for all the Mac-addicts I know, I’m almost 100% sure they’re going to make me sign an NDA so I won’t be able to disclose anything about the stuff I see without getting fired, so you won’t see me mentioning any specifics come this Fall. I certainly wouldn’t want to become another one of those stories where I lose my job because of some careless blogging.
The start date is another thing. I asked if they were cool with a summer-summer work period because it would probably work better with my classes in Spring 2006, but I’m wondering if I should just abandon that and hope the classes work out really well, as if this turns out to be really awesome I’m going to want to work as long as possible on this stuff
